Prediction

I see a land predicted
but never proved.
A day--night--
in which the sun fails.

I see the darkness that will
Conquer.
The madness that will
Consume.

I see the abandoned homes--
the empty streets.
The windows broken
by hatred and vanity,
the doors barred by silence
and ignorance.

I sense the empty rooms--
the isolation of a people
who had their chance in Eden--
and rejected it.
Took it for granted--
tore away the happy image,
crushed the Grecian Urn
under their sharp toes.

I see an eternity predictied
but never proved.
Where darkness will roam
free of its bonds and the people
will go mad like
butterflies--enraged by heat.

I see the world as it will be--
not as it was meant.
